STORM BULLETIN

Hurricane Felix came and went with minimal damage.  I credit this to my heartfelt pleas, (and of course your prayers),“Dear God, please remember the poor! Mitigate this storm if it is at all possible”.  Each downgrade was an answer to those prayers. I was very, very glad for all of Honduras´ mountain ranges that ran interference.

The proposed path of the storm was pretty scary: in the Nicaragua end of the country, right down the middle, and out the Guatemala end. The radio coverage was constant. People reacted with a mixture of panic and excitement.  The supermarkets were full of people emptying the store shelves of not just emergency rations, but everything: food, clothes, luxury items. Astonishing.

We waited all day yesterday in sunny/partly cloudy Tegus for hurricane effects. It drizzled a little in the afternoon for a while, and yesterday evening and last night it rained moderately—but none of the downpours and thunderstorms that we usually have! And no wind at all.  It was a little disappointing—except that is what I’d prayed for…

Today we had an overcast morning, and back to our usual sunny/partly cloudy.

I phoned most of the communities where I work, and even in the mountains, where it has been raining heavily. There has been no damage or loss of life.  Again, thanks be to God.  My trip to the Lake Yojoa communities is still on for this weekend, and I’m looking forward to daughter Keitlyn´s arrival on Monday for a visit.

Thank you for your concern and for your prayers and your love.

In faith and service in Christ,
